Changes Galore!

I’m sure you don’t see too much different visually, but there have been changes to the 112 Computer Club.

  • First up, the name: We are no longer the 112 Computer Club, but rather the 112 Computer Association. While there may seem to be little difference, it sounds better on a resume, and yes, that’s more than enough reason to modify one word in the name of the organization. (I’m told there were other reasons behind it as well, but I can’t for the life of me remember what they are.)
  • Change number two: In case you missed last week, we have a new president and vice-president. If you were here this past Monday, you already know who they are. In case you are one of those who missed, just show up Monday at our regular 5:00 p.m. meeting time to find out.
  • Third change: Due to the fact that the only comments being left were by spam-bots, I have changed the settings on the site to require you to log in with a member account in order to leave a comment. This means that at the moment, there are only a select few who can leave a comment, as I have removed quite a few accounts recently. New accounts will be given out to active club members only.
  • Last change…for now…: The website has been updated to reflect the name change. So maybe it’s not that big of a change, but I thought it might be fun to point it out.

Club Merger…NOT!

In case you haven’t heard, it’s relatively official. The 112 Computer Club and the ETA Club will be merging to form the 112 Technology Club. There is only one more meeting of the 112 Computer Club before the merger.

Sorry, folks! (Not really…) No merger!

Meetings Resume

Don’t forget, weekly meetings resume tonight, Monday, March 15th.

Meeting on Monday…or Not… (Revised)

We will be having a meeting on Monday, March 8th, since not all classes will have ended yet.

I stand corrected. We will not be having a meeting on Monday the 8th. We will resume meetings on Monday, March 15th. Sorry for the confusion on the matter.

The long-awaited photo gallery is now a reality. Not only has the Photo page been added, but the photos from the Tech Fest have also been uploaded. Be sure to check it out.

Club Dues

We’re starting a new month, and with the start of this new month, mandatory club dues are now in effect. Club dues are $5.00 per month. Please bring your dues for March to the next meeting.

112 Gaming Group

There’s a new group in town—the 112 Gaming Group. Currently, it is open to ITT Tech friends and family who play World of Warcraft, though eventually, it will expand to include more types of games. If you are interested, check the fliers on the bulletin boards at the ITT Technical Institute campus or contact us for further details.

New Website Feature

At the moment, there isn’t much reason to use it, but as the site membership grows, it will come in handy. Information on the site can now be restricted based on club membership. Right now, there’s no information on the site that needs to be restricted, but that may change. This feature will ensure that even if someone signs up as a subscriber to our website, unless they are added to the club member group, (or a website position only held by a club member,) they can’t see the information intended only for club members.

Meetings Resume

Club members, don’t forget that our regularly scheduled meetings resume this Monday, February the 22nd.

A Meeting Reminder

This is just a friendly reminder that due to no classes because of President’s day, we will not have our meeting tomorrow, the 15th. We will resume our meetings the following week on Monday, February 22nd.

Saturday LAN Party Mostly a Success

Considering that it was the first time we’ve done anything like it, Saturday’s LAN party turned out to be rather successful. Not saying we didn’t have any issues, but what would a tech-fest be without technical difficulties? To start with, we weren’t able to get into the room to set things up as soon as we would have liked. Once we were in, the server decided to have video issues. After that was straightened out, there were problems getting the network up. Once that was solved, the game we chose to start off with, wouldn’t connect to the host. Once all was solved, though, we did get started, albeit a little late. The food was good. Hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and soda make perfect accompaniment to gaming.

Of course it wasn’t all just computers and food. The movie room was well used, and those that brought their consoles got to have some fun as well. And for those not wanting to partake in the technological goodness, there was even a room set aside for those who realize that RPG stands for something other than Rocket Propelled Grenade.

Pictures were taken, and they will be posted shortly, possibly even later today, but no promises. (It’s my understanding we’ve even got shots of Mr. Clay getting in on the action.)

Club Shirt Orders

Just a friendly reminder to all current club members, if we want to get the shirts in time for the LAN party on Saturday, February the 6th, orders & money need to be in by tomorrow, Friday the 29th. We’ll ultimately get the shirts anyway, but to have them in time for the LAN party, time is running out.

New Site

I’ve got good news and I’ve got bad news. The good news is that the old website has been swept away, and the new website is up and running. The bad news, (though, admittedly it’s not all that bad,) is that it still isn’t quite looking quite the way it should. That being said, though, it’s at least functional and somewhat visually appealing. We should shortly have at least one or two more authors so that I’m not the only one you’ll have to listen to, which should be even better news.
